Optical and mechanical design
Sky-Watcher’s original catalogue describes metallic high-transmission coatings, a dual-speed focuser and an aluminium carrying case. The ED doublet design is intended to limit chromatic aberration while keeping the lens assembly simpler than a triplet.
Original model distinction
The standard 150ED is distinct from the DX/Deluxe version with its larger rack-and-pinion focuser and upgraded attachment hardware. It is also distinct from the newer retractable-hood EDX.
